What is the maximum UIF deduction

Last Updated on September 21, 2023 by ufiling

UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) is a South African government program that provides short-term financial assistance to workers who become unemployed, or are unable to work due to illness or maternity leave. The maximum UIF deduction refers to the maximum amount that can be contributed to the UIF fund by employees and employers.

At that time, the maximum UIF deduction for employees was 1% of their total remuneration, subject to a maximum limit. The maximum limit was set at ZAR 14,872 per month, which means that if an employee’s monthly remuneration exceeded this amount, the maximum UIF deduction would still be based on ZAR 14,872.

It’s important to note that UIF contribution rates and maximum limits may have changed since my last update. To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on UIF deductions, I recommend referring to the official website of the South African Department of Labour or consulting with a relevant authority or expert in South African labor laws.
